Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Batter
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Combine the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. Whisk until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix until combined. Avoid over-mixing to keep the donuts fluffy.
Step 2: Choose Your Cooking Method
Option 1: Frying
- Heat oil in a deep pan or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully spoon small amounts of batter into the hot oil, or pipe it from a piping bag if you want consistent shapes.
- Fry on each side for about 1–2 minutes until the donuts are golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove and drain on a paper towel.
Option 2: Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a mini donut pan.
- Pipe or spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, until the donuts are lightly golden and spring back when touched.
Step 3: Add Toppings
- Let the donuts cool slightly, then dip them in powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, or drizzle with melted chocolate.
- Serve warm, and enjoy!
